Wick Poetry Center, Ohio Nurses Foundation Collaborate to Present Sacred Breath: Nurses Respond to COVID-19
During the spring semester retreat on Jan. 13, 2022, Kent State University College of Nursing faculty and staff added their voices to a new project entitled, Sacred Breath: Nurses Respond to COVID-19, presented by the Wick Poetry Center in collaboration with the Ohio Nurses Foundation (ONF). This project was born out of the increasing awareness at the beginning of the pandemic of the incredible distress healthcare workers faced daily, especially those on the frontlines.

Leadership Center Names Hannah Call March Student Leader of the Month
Junior nursing major Hannah Call is the recipient of the KSU Leadership Center’s Student Leader of the Month. The Student Leader of the Month program seeks to recognize students for excellence in leadership through campus and community involvement. Bridging the field of early childhood literacy with child health and development, faculty member Elaine Thomas, MSN, RN, CNE, senior lecturer, is serving as co-investigator on a recently funded grant awarded to the Kent State University School of Information in partnership with the College of Nursing.

Research and Innovation Advisory Board Helps Put Donor Dollars to Good Use
The newly formed “Research and Innovation Advisory Board” within the College of Nursing is helping to connect donor-provided funds with faculty and students who are participating in nursing research. The board, consisting of tenured faculty, non-tenured faculty, grant administrators and other leaders in the college, has helped to facilitate thousands of dollars in research support.
