Join the Golden Flashes as they take on The School Down The Road!

Join alumni and friends for an exciting tailgate experience. There will be fun for the whole family! Enjoy snacks, drinks, games and plenty of Kent State spirit. This is also a great opportunity to meet fellow alumni and friends before the Flashes take on the Zips in the annual Wagon Wheel Challenge.

Hoops Preview
 
Kent State men’s and women’s teams were both picked fourth in the MAC preseason coaches’ poll announced last week. Both teams had players selected to the pre-season all-conference team. Forward Nila Blackford earned the honor on the women’s side and guard Sincere Carry earned the accolade on the men’s side.

The 2021-22 season starts this week for both squads. The women open on Wednesday night at Northern Kentucky and host Saint Francis on Sunday at 2 p.m. The men open at Xavier on Friday at 6:30 p.m. To watch and follow along, please see the Kent State Athletics schedule page.

FOOTBALL
 
Flashes Sweep Weekly Awards, Set for CMU Showdown
 
The Golden Flashes had a clean sweep of the Mid-American Conference awards this week with Dustin Crum, Nico Bolden and Andrew Glass all picking up weekly honors for their efforts in the win over Northern Illinois. Crum also earned a Manning Award Star of the Week for his performance in the win.

With 5-4 overall and 4-1 in the MAC, Kent State holds the top spot in the East Division and is a win away from bowl eligibility. The Golden Flashes have a big test on Wednesday, traveling to face Central Michigan. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. on ESPN U.

Field Hockey Earns Five All-MAC Honors
 
Kent State goalie Azure Fernsler earned MAC Defensive Player of the Year, highlighting five All-MAC awards. The Flashes had four first-team all-conference players and a fifth named to the second team. The Golden Flashes wrapped up their 2021 season with a tough 1-0 loss to Longwood in the MAC Tournament. The Flashes finished the year at 12-6 overall and had a 6-1 conference mark.

SOCCER
 
Soccer Earns Six All - MAC Honors
 
Tianna Harris was named the MAC Defensive Player of the Year, highlighting six Golden Flashes who earned All-MAC honors. Harris was one of three Golden Flashes to earn first-team all-conference honors, while a second trio earned second-team honors.

Kent State defeated Ohio in the MAC tournament semifinals but fell to Bowling Green in the conference title game. The Golden Flashes finish the season at 13-5-3 overall and 7-1-3 in MAC play.
