Kent State seized its first road shutout since 1974 and the first in a Wagon Wheel game since 1949 in a 38-0 win over the Zips in the annual Wagon Wheel game.
With the win, the Flashes became bowl eligible for the second time in three seasons. Bowl information will become available over the next few weeks.
The victory also sets up a showdown against Miami RedHawks for the MAC East Division title on Saturday at noon on ESPN+. The Flashes will be honoring their seniors in a pre-game ceremony.
Saturday is also Youth Sports Day at Dix Stadium. Any elementary school student who wears their youth sports jersey to the game receives free admission. For tickets and information about Saturday’s football game or future home events, call the ticket office at 330-672-4455.

Starkey Gets Win No. 250 and Flashes Head to Florida
Kent State women’s basketball head coach Todd Starkey picked up career coaching win No. 250 with the big school day win over John Carroll. The Flashes are 3-0 as they head down to Florida for the Gulf Coast Showcase. Their first opponent is UCLA who will come into the matchup ranked in the top 20 in the latest AP Poll. Tipoff for Friday’s game is set for 1:30 p.m. with Saturday’s and Sunday’s game dependent on the tournament outcomes.

Flashes Sweep MAC Awards
Kent State swept this week’s MAC football awards with Dustin Crum, CJ West and Andrew Glass winning the offensive, defensive and special teams awards respectively.
Crum led the Flashes to a 38-0 rivalry win, posting a season-high 114 yards on the ground and scoring his 9th and 10th rushing touchdowns of the year. He also had the only punt for the Flashes in the game, pooching a kick that was downed at the one.
CJ West recorded the first three-sack game by a Golden Flash since 2016 with six sacks for Kent State on the day. Andrew Glass hit all three of his field goals and all four of his extra points in the victory.

Flashes Hire Kelly Tilley as Mental Health Provider
The Kent State Athletic Department, under the direction of new A.D. Randale Richmond, is excited to welcome Kelly Tilley as the department's Mental Health Provider. Tilley will promote mental health in an informed environment through consultation with student-athletes, coaches and staff as well as through preventative outreach programming. Tilley's role was created as part of the university's mental health expansion and enhancement. Her role will be enhanced with funds for additional mental health resources raised via a 2020 Athletic Department crowdfunding campaign.
