2022 Masters: Conners Logs Another Masters Top-10, Hughes Wins Par 3 Challenge
Corey Conners, ’14, birdied his last two holes to finish three under part and tied for sixth at the 2022 Masters held this past weekend. This is the third-straight year Conners, a 2021 Varsity “K” Hall of Famer, finished in the top-10 at the year’s first golf major. Connors finished in a tie for eighth in 2021 and 10th in 2020.
Masters week traditionally begins with the Par 3 Contest on Wednesday afternoon. Mackenzie Hughes, ’12, another 2021 Varsity “K” Hall of Famer, took home Wednesday’s title, tying with fellow Canadian Mike Weir at four under par.

Kent State Athletics Announces Six Named Spaces From Generous Donors
The Golden Flashes Club is pleased to announce the naming of several athletic areas around the Kent Campus. The naming rights are another big step forward for the Athletic Department’s “Play As One” strategic plan.
“This is an exciting time for our athletic department,” Director of Athletics Randale L. Richmond said. “Having supporters who see the value of athletics and the importance of making our department student-athlete centered, coach led and administrator supported is beyond measure. 2022 Football Season Tickets On Sale Now; Spring Showcase Set for Saturday
Your 2021 MAC East Division Champion Kent State Golden Flashes have an exciting five-game home slate for the upcoming 2022 season. Tickets are on sale now, so lock in your season tickets today!
Kent State Football will hold its annual spring showcase at 9:30 a.m. at Dix Stadium on Saturday. Gates open at 8:30 am for this free event that concludes the 2022 spring football season.
The Flashes will also be introducing their latest signee through Team IMPACT at the close of the showcase.
Lacrosse Celebrates First Full Senior Class on During Spring Extravaganza Saturday
Following the football spring game on Saturday, Kent State Lacrosse will celebrate the first senior day in women’s lacrosse history on Saturday at 1 p.m. EDT at Dix Stadium. They will honor 12 seniors from the inaugural season of Kent State Lacrosse before taking on Central Michigan.
There will be food trucks with game day specials, giveaways and a lot of fun, plus admission is FREE!
Ba’s Victory Leads Flashes at Joe May Invitational
Baidy Ba was the first athlete across the finish line in the men's 1500-meter run on Saturday as the Kent State Track and Field program posted 22 top-five finishes at the Joe May Invitational inside LSU's Bernie Moore Track Stadium.
Ba won the 1500m for the second week in a row, finishing in 3:48.06, putting him ahead of teammate Drew Johnson for ninth on the Golden Flashes' all-time performance list. Johnson recorded a 3:51.13 on Saturday to finish third.
