Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972 is a federal law that states: “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.”

Four Sports Post Perfect APR Scores
Four Kent State teams (Men's Golf, Women's Basketball, Women's Golf and Women's Gymnastics) received the NCAA Public Recognition Award for academic excellence. Those four teams scored a perfect score over the four-year period from 2017-2021, highlighting the latest Academic Progress Rate (APR) from the NCAA.
The NCAA's latest report marks the seventh consecutive year that at least four Kent State teams earned a perfect multi-year APR score.
Golden Flashes Well-Represented at Black Student Athlete Summit
Earlier this summer, a group of Kent State student-athletes and staff represented the Golden Flashes at the annual Black Student Athlete Summit in Houston, Texas.
Football players Dean Clark and Mario Nunez and soccer player Tianna Harris were joined by Director of Athletics Diversity Outreach and Professional Impact Frank Porter, Jr. and McLendon Leadership Fellow Calvin Toney-Cox for the three-day event.
The Black Student-Athlete Summit is a transformative event that provides Black student- athletes the opportunity to engage with industry professionals, researchers and other student-athletes from across the country. The summit touched on a wide variety of topics including mental health, addiction, activism, the transfer portal, NIB (Name, Image and Blackness) and social media best practices.

Grace Tennant Earns CoSIDA Academic All-America® Third Team Honors
Kent State student-athlete Grace Tennant has been named to the 2022 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Third Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Tuesday.
The CoSIDA Academic All-America® teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
2022 Volleyball Schedule Announced
Fans will have their first opportunity to see the team in action at the annual Blue and Gold Scrimmage Saturday, Aug. 20.
The home schedule begins with the Kent State Invitational when the Flashes play Southern Indiana on Friday, Sept. 2. The Golden Flashes will then play Cornell the morning of Saturday, Sept. 3 and close the home weekend on Sunday against Oakland in a 7 p.m. contest.
Season tickets will be available starting July 11, and single game tickets will be available Aug. 1.
2022 Soccer Schedule Announced
Kent State Soccer kicks off their season at home Thursday, Aug. 18! The Golden Flashes will host the Cleveland State Vikings at 7 p.m. EDT at Dix Stadium. Among many other exciting games, they also will host Toledo on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 1 p.m. EDT during Homecoming Weekend and their 25th anniversary celebration.
2022 Field Hockey Schedule Announced
Kent State Field Hockey opens their home schedule Friday, Sept. 2, against Syracuse University. Last year, the Golden Flashes defeated the #14 ranked Orange 2-1 at Syracuse.
The Flashes open the Mid-American Conference slate Sunday, Sept. 18 against Appalachian State
Men’s Basketball Announces Coaching Changes
The Kent State Men’s Basketball program has made multiple coaching changes, Head Coach Rob Senderoff announced Wednesday.
Assistant Coach Julian Sullinger has been promoted to associate head coach, while Jon Fleming has been named an assistant coach. In addition to the current staff changes, the Golden Flashes will bring back Varsity “K” Hall of Famer Jim Christian as the assistant athletic director of basketball administration.
Football Season Tickets on Sale Now!
Don’t forget to purchase tickets for the 2022 season. The Golden Flashes have a five-game home schedule this season. They will kick off the home opener against Long Island University Saturday, Sept. 17, during Hall of Fame Weekend, followed by Ohio University during Homecoming on Saturday, Oct. 1. They will also host the school down the road (University of Akron) this season, as well as Ball State and Eastern Michigan.
