Kent State Athletics Announces Varsity “K” Hall of Fame Class of 2022
Kent State Athletics recently announced nine members to be honored as part of the 43rd induction ceremony on Friday, Sept. 16. This year’s class includes Bob Clouse (men's soccer, 1971-75), Jessacca Gironda (women's soccer/softball, 2010-14), Jennifer Ha (women's golf, 2012-15), Emma Johnson (softball, 2012-15), Christina Lenny (women's gymnastics, 2008-11), Jimmy Rider (baseball, 2009-12), David Starn (baseball, 2009-12), Scott Stricklin (baseball coach, 2005-13) and Matthias Tayala (men's track and field, 2012-15).

Nathan Fanger Elevated to Director of Track and Field/Cross Country
Kent State Director of Athletics Randale L. Richmond announced early this month that long-time throws coach Nathan Fanger, '00 has been selected as the Golden Flashes' next Director of Track and Field/Cross Country. Fanger has been part of the program since arriving on campus as a student-athlete in Fall 1996.
Fanger has helped the Flashes capture 16 Mid-American Conference team championships during his time on the coaching staff and has twice been named U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Great Lakes Region Assistant Coach of the Year.
Coaches Caravan Coming to Cleveland July 26
Join Kent State Athletics and The Golden Flashes Club along with our head coaches in Cleveland at Masthead Brewing Company!
This event is an exclusive opportunity to meet with our head coaches and learn more about our programs, initiatives and needs. Joining the caravan will be Rob Senderoff, Men's Basketball, Todd Starkey, Women's Basketball, and Sean Lewis, Football.
Light appetizers will be provided as well as a cash bar. Coaches will be present to discuss their upcoming seasons and program status. We invite former student-athletes, donors, alumni and friends to join us for this unique event.

Flashes Welcome Frazier as New Assistant AD for Marketing and Fan Engagement
Kent State Athletics has named Stanley Frazier Jr. as the new assistant athletic director for marketing and promotions.
"I am thrilled and honored to join the Golden Flashes family," Frazier said. "It is a great feeling to return to my home state of Ohio, doing so in an athletic department with outstanding leadership. I plan on building on the successes of the past while finding innovative ways to enhance the experience of our student-athletes, students and fans."
A two-time graduate of Wright State, Frazier returns to the Buckeye State. He has more than eight years of marketing experience and comes to Kent State from the University of New Mexico where he served as the Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Revenue Generation since 2019.

Azure Fernsler Named NCAA Woman of the Year Nominee
Kent State's Azure Fernsler is among the 577 nominees for the 2022 NCAA Woman of the Year award, the NCAA announced on Thursday.
Established in 1991, the award recognizes female student-athletes who have exhausted their eligibility and distinguished themselves in their community, in athletics and in academics throughout their college careers.
Volleyball Season Tickets Now On Sale!
Fans will have their first opportunity to see the team in action, under new head coach Haley Eckerman, at the annual Blue and Gold Scrimmage Saturday, Aug. 20.
The home schedule begins with the Kent State Invitational when the Flashes play Southern Indiana Friday, Sept. 2. The Golden Flashes will then play Cornell Saturday, Sept. 3, and close the home weekend Sunday against Oakland in a 7 p.m. contest.
Flashes Give Back to Community Through Youth Camp
The star-studded duo of Sincere Carry and Malique Jacobs excels on the court and in giving back to the community.
Carry and Jacobs were in Akron at the end of June volunteering at a youth camp for Akron Public School students. The camp was available for grades 3-8 and was organized through Team Clutch Ohio by Kevin Kovach. It was an excellent opportunity for the Flashes to help out in the local community.
Lacrosse Earns IWLCA Community Awareness Award
Kent State Women's Lacrosse was named the Division I recipient of the 2022 Intercollegiate Women's' Lacrosse Coaches Association Community Awareness Team Award.
“For four years, we have built this program on players who are inherently good people, resolute in getting good grades, giving back to their communities and caring for each other," said Head Coach

The Kent State Men’s Basketball team is excited for some semi-pro competition in Australia from Aug. 3-14.

Don’t forget to purchase tickets for the 2022 season. The Golden Flashes have a five-game home schedule this season. They will kick off the home opener against Long Island University Saturday, Sept. 17, during Hall of Fame Weekend, followed by Ohio University during Homecoming Saturday, Oct. 1. They will also host the school down the road (University of Akron) this season, as well as Ball State and Eastern Michigan.
