Men’s Basketball Getting National Attention

Miryne Thomas Named MAC Player of the Week

The Golden Flashes took care of business at home against the defending league champion, the Toledo Rockets Jan. 10. The win established Kent State as the front-runner in the MAC. Miryne Thomas was spectacular in both games this past week, with 22 points and 13 rebounds against Toledo and 17 points and nine rebounds against Ohio Jan. 13. His performances earned him MAC Player of the Week Honors and helped the Golden Flashes move to 4-0 in the MAC, marking the program’s best start to conference play since the 2005-06 season.

Rob Senderoff’s squad also received eight votes in the most recent AP Top 25 poll.

Kent State added a win at Eastern Michigan (77-63) on Tuesday night, for a record of 15-3 on the year. The team remains undefeated in MAC play (5-0).

UP NEXT: Kent State welcomes the Ball State Cardinals 13-5 (4-1 MAC) to the MAC Center for a showdown of the top two teams in the conference. Tipoff is at 6:30 p.m. EST this Friday, Jan. 20, and will be aired on 850 ESPN Cleveland and televised by CBS Sports Network.

Fans can arrive an hour early at 5:30 p.m. for a Bud Light Happy Hour with discounted drink prices. Fans can also use the code VOTES for $8 general admission tickets if purchased in advance of game day.
